Dear Editor,
The “top news” that foreign citizens undergo illegal treatment in St. Marina Hospital is nearly four months old. During the period 22-May-2003 – 3-Jun-2003, 16 Belgian citizens underwent 6 dialysis sessions, and on 27-May-2003, 12 Israeli citizens underwent one dialysis session. Certain problems of medical and financial character arose around the treatment of the foreign citizens.
Since then, for almost four months, I am keeping correspondence with the authorized institutions in the field of Ministry of Health and Ministry of Internal Affairs. The case has not been closed yet. The article in your newspaper does not reflect the truth. Words and allegations which present me in unfavorable light have been ascribed to me.
According to my former boss, Dr. Kiril Nenov, Associate-Professor, my motivation was to cause problems to my former head nurse. I emphasize that Head Nurse Demireva is a trustworthy person. She is not to blame for what happened.
Dr. K. Nenov has heard something of contracts. So far, only one contracts has been presented: for 6 dialysis sessions on 16 Belgian citizens. Payment for a performed service, however, is made not through a contract but through a payment document. The question is: does such a document exist? The answer to this question is beyond Dr. K. Nenov’s competence.
The Israeli citizens’ situation is even more obscure. For three months, on official level, it was not even known whether there had been Israeli citizens on dialysis in St. Marina or not. Neither a contract, nor a payment document has been presented so far.
Dr. K. Nenov could simply have told you that he did not have enough information about the case with the foreigners. Instead, he availed of the opportunity granted to him to level personal assaults at me and to spread rumors.
Yours faithfully,
Reneta Stoyanova, a former medical nurse
